Last month the Huntsman World Senior Games opened their online registration for a maximum of 600 pickleball players at midnight. By 12:02:06, all 600 slots were filled leaving another 1200 would-be participants missing the opportunity to play here in St. George, UT during two weeks in October in what we believe is on its way to becoming the “pickleball capitol of the world!”

Even if you didn’t get signed up for pickleball at the HWSG’s (even if you did its not until October) another option to enjoy yourself on our many fabulous courts is the 2nd Annual Southwest Slam Pickleball Tournament, hosted by St. George Rotary Club and governed by the Official United States of America Pickleball Association (USAPA). The Southwest Slam is open to any and all players ages 14 to 114 who will compete in a single age category in Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles Tournament.

Categories are ages 14 -18, adults 18-49, players 50+, and seniors over 65. The format will be double elimination on both days. A match will consist of one game to 15 points for all matches leading up to the “medal” matches. All “medal” matches will be 2 out of 3 games to 11.

Event fees are $35.00 for the 1st registered tournament player and $5.00 for each additional game. Register online at or no later than Friday, May 11 for this exciting and fun event held at the Little Valley Pickleball Field on the weekend of May 18-20 2017.
