Let the good times roll! The 17th Annual Mini-Indy charity race, on Saturday, March 23 at the Ridgetop Complex (also known as the old St. George Airport on the ridge above Bluff Street), is on track to continue in the tradition as the biggest and best Indy-style race in Southern Utah and certain to bring in lots of funds on behalf of United Way Dixie. The event is held from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and sponsored, once again, by SkyWest Airlines and the City of St. George, the Mini-Indy has raised more than $1 million since its inception in Y2K.
New crews will show off their skills behind the wheel and former winners will be back to defend their title by holding back all competitors in such categories as fastest pit crew, best looking car, best uniforms, best theme, even a pit masters competition.
The Mini-Indy attracts teams from international and local businesses, community leaders and various civic groups to race miniature Indy-style cars through a twisting course.
This fun and fiercely competitive event, held annually during the third week of March kicks off with a golf tournament with funds raised going to support the SkyWest Scholarship Program. At the Pre-Race Banquet, a silent auction will have many surprises, but its no surprise 100% of the funds raised go to United Way Dixie to help address community needs. The capstone – and the most fun to be had on the 3-day Mini-Indy weekend – is the race itself.
