Let the good times roll! The 17th Annual Mini-Indy charity race, on Saturday, March 23 at the Ridgetop Complex off Tech Drive (also known as the road to the old St. George Airport on the ridge above Bluff Street), is on track to continue in the tradition as the biggest and best Indy-style race in Southern Utah. The Mini-Indy, which was first held in Y2K and raised more than $1 million on behalf of our local United Way Dixie. This fun and fast-paced event is held from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and sponsored, once again, by SkyWest Airlines and the City of St. George.
New crews will show off their skills behind the wheel and former winners will be back to defend their title by holding back all competitors in such categories as fastest pit crew, best looking car, best uniforms, best theme … even a pit masters’ competition from noon – 4 p.m. The trophy ceremony will take place from 4 – 5 p.m.
The Mini-Indy attracts teams from international and local businesses, community leaders and various civic groups to race miniature Indy-style cars through a twisting course, to include a wet corner, hairpin turns, photo finishes and perilous pit stops.
This fun and fiercely competitive event, held annually during the third week of March kicks off with a golf tournament with a portion of funds raised going to support the SkyWest Scholarship Program. At the Pre-Race Banquet, a silent auction will have many surprises.
