IMG_2224As a traveler to a new place, don’t you love to stroll the streets of the community to get a feel of what it is like? St. George is a community that has a love for the arts that roots back to the early settlers of this area and a city that loves to share the many things this wonderful community has right downtown.

The Art Around the Corner Foundation has helped bring the fine arts to the streets and to the heart of downtown St. George. This foundation has helped enrich the community by bringing in collections of sculptures by nationally renowned artists.

The city has accumulated a variety of different sculpture pieces that have been placed through the Historic District to be on display for the community and for the many who come here to visit. They have a permanent sculpture collection along with a temporary exhibit that changes annually with new pieces. The temporary exhibit is not only on display for the year, but the sculptures in this exhibit are also for sale. It is a great way to enjoy our city and enjoy your love of the arts.

St. George has a little bit of something for everyone to nurture or gain their appreciation for the arts. You can take in as much or as little as you would like right in the heart of the city. You can visit and tour the following in the downtown area:

As Thomas Merton said, “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” Come and lose yourself while staying with us at one of our luxurious St. George, Utah Vacation Rentals.

The picturesque scenery that St. George has to offer is absolutely breathtaking.  It looks as though it has been taken from a postcard, but it is just all-natural beauty.  There are so many activities that can be enjoyed in that area; no matter what time of year you go to visit.

If you and your family make the trip to visit this upcoming fall you may wish to partake in some unique activities like visiting various art shows, enjoying some open mike nights, going to the red cliffs recreational and much more.

Utah has a festival coming up called the Holi Festival of Colors, which dates back to North Indian tradition.  It is the celebration of the changing of seasons along with a combination of people to celebrate spiritual/social harmony.  The festival offers a plethora of colors, great music, dance and food along with an opportunity to ‘throw’ colors every two hours.

The town of St. George also offers free matinee movies for families and children and has lowered admission to many museums.  Everyone can take a look into the history of ancient settlers as well as, Indian tribes and their way of life.  St. George is rich in history that not many people have the opportunity to get up close and personal with.

Maybe your family is really into dinosaurs?  St. George has a dinosaur discovery site where you can actually see bones being cleaned up and excavated.  A neat thing that this particular site has to offer is a real life view of dinosaur tracks and the path that they naturally walked.  Your children will have an opportunity to see fossils and rare remains that the dinosaurs have left behind.

Another great activity that takes place in Utah is Oktoberfest.  Dating back to 1810, the tradition of Oktoberfest started at a wedding in Bavaria, Germany.  As King Ludwig got married, a celebration took place.  One consisting of song and dance, all of which you can still be a part of at the Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort.  About 60,000 people from across the country come to be a part of this celebration.

Whatever age category you fall into and whether you are ready to see dinosaurs, hike, learn some history or join others celebrating Oktoberfest, St. George and the state of Utah have many fun activities to be enjoyed year round.
