Now in its 30th year, the Annual Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show and Sale, has become one of the biggest art events in the state of Utah. Beginning this year on February 17, the show held in the Sears Art Museum Gallery on Dixie State University’s campus and named for founders Robert N. and Peggy Sears, will feature nearly 225 works-of-art produced by more than 100 amazing artists. In addition to the show itself, this popular event also includes a symposium and a dazzling opening gala featuring delicious food and the opportunity to mingle with the artists and other art lovers.

The works on display will showcase artists from all over Utah and the United States and will include bronze, ceramic, watercolor, mixed media, oil and pastels – most available for sale.

This year’s symposium – FREE to art lovers and the general public – will kick off the Sears Invitational event at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, in the Dolores Dorè Eccles Fine Arts Center Concert Hall featuring 2016 Purchase Prize Winner Arlene Braithwaite.

The opening gala begins at 4 p.m. with an art preview for those who wish to view and select those pieces they might be interested in purchasing. Tickets for this semiformal event are $75 per person and are now available by contacting Susan Taysom at 435-652-7903 or taysom@dixie.edu.

The Sears Dixie Invitational Art Show and Sale was conceived as a way to fund DSU’s permanent collection of art and is the only fundraiser held each year in support of the Sears Art Museum Gallery.

The exhibit will open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 18, and will be on display through March 27. For this exhibit, the gallery will be open Monday through Saturday through the end of the show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 2 to 6 p.m. every Sunday. Sears Art Museum Gallery is located in the Dolores Dorè Eccles Fine Arts Center on the DSU campus at 155 S. University Ave.
